I am a man in my mid-fifties but extremely young at heart, born and raised in Rome, Italy by an American archaeologist and an Italian lady. I've travelled the world, especially the Mediterranean basin on excavations and buying and selling the art and antiques of Greece, Rome, and Egypt.

I am a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with post graduate work at Columbia in Roman Architecture. I am a former assistant to the curator of Greco-Roman art at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

I have three businesses. I import ceramic porcelain tile from Italy. I lecture to an architectural audience on Roman architecture and history, and I am an aspiring romance novelist having finished my first book and working about mid-way through my second. I travel for business across the country and to Rome several times a year for pleasure and to lecture.

I am separated from my wife of 26 years but still live in the same home on different floors of a Victorian farm house in New Jersey close to New York City. I have remained in a loveless marriage for many years in order to give my two daughters the chance to grow up with both mother and father. My first daughter has graduated and is away on a fellowship. My second daughter leaves for college in one month. My marriage cannot be saved and I live in anticipation of a happiness I have not known for many years. It would be a big improvement in my life to have a companion and lover to share the things I am passionate about and to end the celibacy I've experienced for near twenty years! I want to meet a mature woman, experienced and caring, who craves my company and attention, intellect and culture. I need someone who understands relationships and the human condition.

I am a faithful, generous, and happy person who needs no drama, jealousy, or infatuation. I love my family and respect and wish to protect my wife of many years. We no longer are able to co-exist but I honor the memory of who and what she was to me many years ago. I also wish to protect my daughters who are blessed with beauty, intelligence, and a desire to be good citizens and give back. They do not need to have a mother destitute or a father who abandons them. I want them to inherit the possessions of my family going back several generations, and the art and antiques I've collected after I am gone. I am not looking to sponge off a new relationship. I have plenty to bring to any match which exceeds anything which financial riches could bring. I just want someone who revels in knowing me, respects my commitment to my family, wants a teacher, a student, a friend and lover to keep them company for the balance of my life.

As for my personal self...I am 6'2", 230 pounds, self confident and have a presence wherever I go. I am talkative, friendly, alive and still robust. I have lived a life rich in experience and testing of all that life has to offer. I have thinning hair, brown eyes, have not yet gone grey, and would like a companion who would enjoy an active life, away from the television and computer, and enjoying the finer things to be found through education, culture, experience, and travel.

It would be great to be with someone more active than I've been the past few years so I can improve my weight and health. I love the outdoors but have spent far too long in an office and behind a desk with no one sharing the outdoors. I like to bicycle and often go to Central Park which I love and to DC which is also a good ride.

Most of all I want someone who loves me, who would enjoy a physical relationship, who needs a man to care for and to take care of most of her needs as well. I welcome further inquiries into who I am and what can be.
