Make me laugh and you're halfway there!
Which is NOT to say I'm not serious about this whole dating thing. I am.
God knows, I've been leaving it all to fate - and generally getting things wrong for most of my adult life - and so now I am determined to go about the business of finding my ideal mate in a sober, scientific and 100% serious manner...
However, if we can have a laugh along the way then so much the better!
I'm 49 years old; young at heart and world weary all at the same time - if that makes sense?
In fact it might appear as if I contradict myself in quite a lot of ways - I'm energetic and lazy; enthusiastic and full of apathy; trusting to a fault and cynical as old boots. If you set any store by astrology then the fact that I'm Libran should explain all of the above - and quite a bit more besides.
Not sure what else I can tell you at this point. My appearance is probably the thing you're most interested in at this stage. I need to get some more photos taken. The one posted here currently shows me looking happy but a little worse for wear at a birthday party. I guess I could post some shots from when I was a 20 year old model and Bond movie extra, however I fear this may just lead to a certain amount of disappointment further down the line! I've held it all together reasonably well, you understand, but if you're looking for a Jordan/Katie Price type then I'm afraid you're a couple of decades too late!
I'm not at all looksist myself; don't really mind what a guy looks like so long as he's reasonably well turned out and smells good (I do love a nice aftershave!).
I'll be frank early on here and say that a man's financial situation definitely IS of importance to me in my search for Mr Right. I'm not a gold digger by any means, but I've had more than my share of users and losers over the time and am therefore keen (putting it mildly) to avoid meeting any others of that particular stripe. I'm fairly old fashioned; a traditionalist at heart. I feel it's a man's place to be the provider, protector, go-getter, etc. I'm happy to let my man take the leading role in most areas as long as I can be sure he is capable, dependable, and won't end up steering us both up the Swannee. In turn I am extremely loyal, loving, and - I hope - a pretty good 'support act'. I'll always watch your back, in other words.
What else? Well, I'm English (and proud of it though not in that irritating, jingoistic way) but with a slightly Italian look about me (I'm told) which is most likely due to my mum's mum having hailed from that country.
So anyways, I've probably bored the arses off the majority of readers. If you're still hanging in there then - well done, you!

No one specific activity.
What makes it fun (or not) for me is largely down to who I'm with. It could be going out socialising or staying home watching TV.
Horse riding (though I haven't for some years now); going to a gallery/museum/exhibition; laying around sunbathing by a pool with a nice cold voddy & tonic in hand.
I'm open to suggestion. Don't mind trying new things. What you got?

It's hard to sum up exactly what I'm looking for in my ideal partner - not least because he may be out there somewhere with fabulous qualities I don't even know I'd appreciate coz I haven't ever encountered them before! - however, basically I'd say what I'm searching for is a good, old fashioned gentleman who knows how to treat a lady. A best friend and lover all rolled into one.
Now, I ask you - is that too much to ask for?
