Yes, everybody is looking for hot looks and youth, but how come even when they come face-to-face at these speed-dating events, they hardly ever make a lasting connection? Could it be that it still comes down to having interests in common, being able to carry on an intelligent, stimulating conversation, knowing more than how to put on make-up and fix your hair, having a partner who understands your work, someone you won't be embarrassed of every time she opens her mouth when you're with well-educated, erudite people, someone who enhances you as a human being not just because of the way she looks but because she can hold her own among the most sophisticated and intelligent people you know? And what about having a partner who is truly as passionate about the things you are truly passionate about? What gives true meaning to your life--your work, your hobbies, causes you care about--wouldn't you love to share the things that define you as a human being and give your life purpose and meaning with someone who feels the same way about the same things? I am a professional writer, both fiction and non-fiction, a journalist, photographer, editor. I love reading and writing, history, keeping up with world issues; I find the junction between metaphysics and quantum physics fascinating and meaningful, I love mentally challenging and stimulating conversation, love and admire creativity of all kinds, can spend hours in a museum, love my computer, have traveled all over the US and Europe, and I highly appreciate "nerds" as I have had the best relationships with them. So don't deny your brain just to follow your body. Bodies grow old for everyone; no matter how perfect one may be at the moment, eventually the flesh gives way and there must be something more underlying a relationship or the relationship will die.
